Teeth grinding or clenching is a common disease. It’s important to know that the upper and lower teeth should be in contact about 20 minutes a day. Most often this happens when eating or swallowing. In any other situation, the upper and lower teeth should not touch each other and the mouth should be closed. Clamping usually does not damage the teeth themselves, but has a destructive effect on the periodontium, temporomandibular joints, and the alveolar bone.

Teeth grinding is bruxism. In itself, it is not a disease, but it gives clear signs that something is wrong with our body. Bruxism is a pathological rubbing of the jaw against the jaw. Very often occurs at night.

Effective bruxism therapy – needling

Needling in bruxism therapy is aimed at getting rid of muscle spasm, excessive muscle tension. Needling is part of physiotherapy. It is the physiotherapist who chooses the length and thickness of the needles. The patient’s discomfort is taken into account. The needle insertion is painless. Depending on the choice of the needling technique, you can only feel a slight pain or spasm during the procedure.

What is important is the exceptional effectiveness of the treatment. The method uses very thin, dry needles, i.e. without any pharmacological agent. Dry needling is recommended for the treatment of myalgia, sinus pain, headache and neuralgia.

Needling effects

The dry needling method primarily brings great relief to the jaw muscles. Headaches also disappear, we do not wake up with a clenched jaw. The face is thinning, we do not feel any discomfort associated with eating or talking. Needling treatment is completely safe, provided that we visit only a tried and tested clinic. The needles used for the procedure must absolutely be new and sterile.

After the procedure, very small bruises may appear at puncture sites or redness. Just try the needling procedure in the treatment of bruxism to find out that a lot of pain, including articular, muscular and nervous, can be said goodbye if we get to the right specialist.

During the consultation, it is worth talking about all your fears, tips, expectations so that the therapist can adjust the appropriate bruxism treatment method to our needs. Only then will the results be really desirable and surprising.

The procedure is performed by
