Safe procedure of treating hyperhidrosis

We would like to welcome you to take advantage of the offer of our MEDICOR Clinic of Aesthetic Dermatology and Laser Therapy. Our specialists use only tried and tested preparations such as Botox, Azzalure, Bocouture.

What is botox?

Botulinum toxin (botox) – is a very potent natural toxin causing the inhibition of the release of acetylcholine – a neurotransmitter responsible for the transmission of impulses between nerves and muscles. Botulinum toxin works by blocking the connections between nerve endings and the muscles they innervate, i.e. neuromuscular synapses. There are no contractions of the paralyzed muscles.

Use of the toxin in medicine

The botulinum toxin is used in medicine to treat various diseases that manifest themselves as abnormal excessive muscle tension. Diseases treated with botulism include: strabismus, neurological diseases with excessive muscle tone as well as excessive sweating.

Botox has been used to treat hyperhidrosis. The treatment first consists of determining the places where excessive sweat production by the glands occurs. The dermatologist then designates areas 1.5 cm in diameter in which the exact dose of botulinum toxin will be injected. It blocks the nerves responsible for the sweat glands. The effect of the treatment is limited sweat production for a period of 6 to 12 months. The procedure does not require anesthesia. Toxin injection lasts about 30 minutes. No recovery is required.

Botox versus aesthetic treatments

To eliminate mimic wrinkles very low toxin concentrations are used, which do not affect other parts of the nervous system outside the area in which the injection was given. Botulinum toxin is injected into the degreased and cleaned place on the skin. Very thin needles are used for the treatment, thanks to which the substance is injected to the desired place.

The procedure in our clinic in Krakow lasts about 20 minutes and does not require anesthesia. People with a low pain resistance threshold may receive local anesthesia. No recovery period is required after the procedure. You can function normally the day after botox injection  .

The effect appears after about 7-14 days and lasts for about 4-6 months.

Indications for the treatment

People who have problems with wrinkles around the eyes (“crow’s feet”), transverse and horizontal forehead wrinkles, wrinkles between the eyebrows (“lion’s wrinkles”) or wrinkles on the neck and neckline are eligible for the treatment after consulting a doctor. Botulinum toxin injection is also recommended in cases of “orange skin” on the chin, modeling of the jaw and face oval, bruxism or in the treatment of hyperhidrosis of the face, armpits, hands and feet.

Contraindications

Pregnant and breastfeeding women should opt out of botox treatment. Also, people who are hypersensitive to protein – albumin should not take botulinum toxin.
Other contraindications for the procedure are: inflammatory skin disorders, blood coagulation disorders, neuromuscular conduction disorders, taking aminoglycoside antibiotics or antispasmodics.
